Overview

Within the process, production orders and stages can be created before the planned manufacturing start date and must be released before they can be processed by production. Material availability, the schedule update, and other factors must be checked before the shop floor processing stage.

The key purposes of the release process are to review issues with resources, perform control procedures, and initiate the actual manufacturing process.

As the production order consists of production stages, during this process a part of these stages can be released at once depending on the sequence and dates. They must be reviewed regularly if the next production stages must be released.

Production stages are released when the release date has been reached and there are enough required materials and work center capacity. The availability of materials and work center capacity must be controlled during the production stage release process.
