Overview

Once the manufacturing has started, different unforeseen events may occur. These circumstances may affect further management of the production order. In such cases, the company needs to change production stages.

All non-standard events can be grouped into the following categories:

  • Need to change the quantity of products for manufacturing as non-remanufacturable product defects are identified or product demands change.
  • Need to completely stop production of the started production order.
  • Need to divide the initial batch of products into several independent batches.
  • Need to suspend the simplified production process (with a single stage and no semi-finished products) and dump all semi-finished products in their current state to the warehouse.
  • Need to change the production technology and continue further production under another BOM or in accordance with the same BOM but from a different production stage.
  • Need to separate the production batch at a specific stage of the production process without affecting the initial batch.

As a result of the process, the started production is adjusted.

How to adjust production stages

1. Go to Manufacturing and then click Production order queue management under Production scheduling and controlling.

2. Select a production order and then click Order structure.

3. Select the Show stages check box.

4. Find lines with the icon and select the Production stage.

5. Click More actionsChange lot.

6. Follow one of these scenarios:

  • Change the lot quantity.
  • Cancel subsequent production.
  • Split the lot.
  • Suspend production and continue with a different BOM.

Change lot quantity

Note

Take advantage of this scenario when you need to change the production target. A lot with the changed quantity is produced at the end.

This may be required when:

  • Unrecoverable defect is detected in the lot.
  • Order demand is changed.
  • Other circumstances.

Changed stages can be either refilled based on the original BOM or recalculated by the factor based on the data specified in the stage.

Recalculation is used in case of changes in BOM standards in the lot.

1. Specify the stage, after which a lot will be changed in the After stage field. If no stage is selected, the action will be performed from the first stage.

2. Select Decrease (increase) production.

3. Enter a new lot quantity in the Lot size field.

4. Choose a method to fill up the steps that need to be changed (the Lot stages option):

  • Fill in with BOM. The system will automatically refill the production stages based on the original BOM.
  • Recalculate by factor. The system will automatically calculate a factor that reflects how far the current stages deviate from the BOM standards and recalculate the stages where the lot size needs to be changed.

5. Click Execute.

The system will automatically perform the actions above and open a window with a list of changed documents.

Stop production

Note

You can use this scenario when it is necessary to terminate the lot production and release the current production results.

1. Specify the stage, after which the lot will be changed (the After stage field). If no stage is selected, the action will be performed from the first stage.

2. Select Cancel production.

3. Specify Items, Recipient (warehouse), and Quantity of products manufactured to a date.

4. Click Execute.

The system will automatically delete subsequent steps and open a window with a list of changed documents.

Split lots

Note

You can use this scenario when it is necessary to split the current lot into several independent lots.

This may be required when:

  • Unrecoverable defect is detected in the lot.
  • Different parts of the lot have different deadlines.
  • Other circumstances.

1. Specify the stage, after which the lot will be changed (the After stage field). If no stage is selected, the action will be performed from the first stage.

2. Select Split into.

3. Specify Items, Recipient, and Quantity of the products manufactured to a date within the current lot to transfer them into new Lot No. 1.

4. Specify Lot size 1.

5. Click the Lot 2 hyperlink.

6. Fill information about parts with unrecoverable defects or parts that have different deadlines into Lot No. 2.

7. Choose the BOM and the starting stage.

8. Click the All lots hyperlink. Verify the initial lot size in the header. The quantity of the initial lot must be equal to the total quantity of the new lots.

9. Click Execute.

The system will automatically perform the actions above and open a window with a list of changed documents.

Suspend and restart production

Note

You can use this scenario when it is necessary to suspend the current lot and continue the process from the beginning with a new BOM.

This may be required when:

  • Multistage production process without intermediate products has been suspended:
    • Current results are temporarily sent to the warehouse.
    • Process starts from the beginning or from a certain production stage to repeat some previously completed stages or skip those that became unnecessary.
  • There has been a small or drastic change in the production technology.
  • Other circumstances.

1. Specify the stage, after which the lot will be changed (the After stage field). If no stage is selected, the action will be performed from the first stage.

2. Select Suspend and restart processing.

3. Specify Items, Recipient, and Quantity of the products manufactured to a date.

4. Choose the BOM and the starting stage for further manufacturing.

5. Click Execute.

The system will automatically perform the actions above and open a window with a list of changed documents.
