Overview

Production orders are only planning elements in material requirement planning or detailed scheduling. For the actual manufacturing to start, production orders must be broken down into production stages.

All production stages are related to certain production orders. Production stages involve a recycling product, recycled components, additional materials and their specific batches, route sheets of standard operations, and employee activity kinds. You can copy this information from the BOM specified when creating the production order.

With production stages, you can:

  • Plan quantity of recycling products, dates, and components required for the recycling process.
  • Control the production stage execution.
  • Set cost calculation rules.

The information from the BOM is copied and its line items are transferred to the production stage.

As a result of the process, production stages for a recycling order are created.

How to generate production stages based on BOM data

1. Go to Manufacturing and then click Production order queue management under Production scheduling and controlling.

The workplace shows the list of production orders with the Queued status only.

Note

Production orders with the Created status are excluded from the workplace as these orders are not confirmed for production scheduling yet.

Click the Orders being generated hyperlink to see the list.

Note

Production orders with the Completed status are excluded from the workplace as these orders are completed and no further actions are required.

Click the Closed orders hyperlink to see the list.

2. Set the Generate stages filter.

3. Select an order and click.

4. In the Generate stages menu, select only the Do not produce if available at warehouse check box.

Note

Select the other check boxes if you need to speed up the business process and perform several automatic functions in the background:

  • Select the Reserve at warehouse and Replace with substitutes check boxes to run these processes in the background. For more information about these automatic functions, see Control availability of materials for production.
  • Select the Calculate production schedule check box to run the process in the background. For more information about this automatic function, see Schedule production orders.
  • Select the Release stage check box to run the process in the background. For more information about this automatic function, see Release production orders.

5. Сlick Generate.

The system will automatically:

  • Generate stages based on the BOM.
  • Generate stages for production of intermediate products.
  • Assign a unique number with a mask (for example, МС00-1.36.1) that contains:
    • Short production order number (МС00-1).
    • Sequence number of the production order list (36).
    • Stage sequence number (1).
    • Stage description (Manufacturing) copied from the BOM. To change it, click the Main tab and enter a new value in the Description field.
  • Set the Active status if there are no errors.
