Overview

Distribution standards of product categories are a complex rule. They are used to decompose the total sales forecast figure by category into specific items based on:

  • Weighting factor defined for each item.
  • Ratio of various attributes of items under consideration.
  • Distribution coefficient defined as the Cartesian product of all attribute factors.

As a result of the process, distribution standards of product categories are maintained.

How to check attributes of items within product categories

1. Go to Master data and settings and then click Items under Master data.

2. Filter the Product category by items for forecasting needs.

3. Filter the attribute you will use in the breakdown standards.

4. Review the list of items with this attribute and check the attribute value.

5. If required, update the value.  To apply values for multiple selections, click Bulk actions.

How to create distribution standards of product categories

1. Go to Budgeting and planningSettings and catalogs and then click Distribution standards of product categories under Sales and operations plans.

2. Set the effective date in the As of: field.

3. Review the list of Product categories. Find those without the appropriate standards set as of the effective date.

4. Select a Product category and click Create.

5. In the Distribution standards of product categories document, select a Product category and an Attribute, and specify the effective date.

Note

You can select any standard item/characteristic, attribute, and additional attribute in the document.

You can create multiple standards for one product category depending on different attributes.

How to fill distribution standards with past statistics

1. Open the Distribution standards of product categories document.

2. Click Fill → By sales statistics

3. Set the period for analysis, and select the range of numbers to be used as factors in the Standard presentation field.

The system will automatically:

  • Get the values only of the item attribute that was sold during the specified period.
  • Calculate the distribution shares by the number of sales.
  • Fill the document.

How to fill distribution standards manually or from external files

1. Open the Distribution standards of product categories document.

Manually

1. Click Fill → By ones used in Items. The system will automatically fill all values that were specified in the Items and Variants.

2. Alternatively, click Fill → All values. The system will automatically fill all attribute values, regardless of whether they were specified in the Items and Variants.

3. Specify values in the Distribution percentage column. The system will then automatically calculate the proportions of each attribute value. If the value is empty, the share is considered to be 0.

Import data from the spreadsheet

1. Click the Import from external file icon.

2. In the import from external file form, paste data copied from the spreadsheet.

3. Click Next. The system will automatically parse all the data pasted and fill in the form with the system master data.

4. Review and amend the information and click Move and close.

The system will automatically fill in the form.
