Overview

The goal of this process is to transfer information from revised production plans to baseline scenarios related to supply master plans. The information is validated for the entire company.

As a result of the process, the production plan will be released, made available for use in operating management (to generate production orders and so on), and distributed to interested parties.

How to maintain production plans

1. Go to Budgeting and planning and then click Production plans under Sales and operations plans.

2. Create a new document.

3. In the Production plan document, go to the Main tab.

4. Specify a Scenario and a Plan profile that are relevant for the planning step.

5. Specify a Period.

6. Select a Business unit (or a Dispatching unit), a Warehouse, or other applicable analytics if it is required by the plan profile settings.

7. Go to the Product categories / Goods / Manufactured products tab.

8. Click Fill in categories / Goods → By default rule. The system will automatically fill the lines in accordance with the Population settings of the Plan profile.

9. Review the information and check that the data is complete.

10. Correct the figures if necessary.

11. In the Comment field, specify any relevant notes, for example, special requirements.

12. Click  and attach additional files.

13. Set the Created status and post the document.

Note

These are additional steps you might need to take:

  • Check that BOMs are filled and specify BOMs for items if necessary.
  • Click Plan semi-finished products to automatically add semi-finished products to the document based on product BOMs.

How to calculate production capacity requirements

1. Post the document. The system will automatically start the background job for calculating resources for the document.

How to identify production capacity gaps

1. Go to Budgeting and planning and then click Production plans under Sales and operations plans.

2. Select a document and click Reports → Planned demand for work center types.

In the Planned demand for work center types report:

1. Select a report option that shows available and required values.

2. Specify a period and select a Scenario.

3. Review the information in the Required and Available columns.

4. In the Shortage (surplus), % column, analyze the deviations by the work center type.

How to identify gaps in other resources

Human resources

1. In the Production plan document, click Reports → Planned demand for human resources.

In the Planned demand for human resources report:

1. Specify a Period and select a Scenario.

2. Analyze the requirements for human resources.

Materials

1. In the Production plan document, click Reports → Planned demand for materials.

In the Planned demand for materials report:

1. Specify a Period and select a Scenario.

2. Analyze the requirements for materials.

How to confirm production plans

1. Go to Budgeting and planning and click Planning process management under Tools.

2. Select a Scenario and specify a planning Period.

3. Find a Plan profile related to the process.

4. Double-click the relevant flowchart area, select the plan document, and click Set status → Confirmed. The system will automatically set the Confirmed status for the document.

How to inform interested parties about released production plans

1. Open the required document.

2. Create a Duty based on the document.

3. In the Duty field, specify a working name.

4. Assign it to a responsible user within the database.

5. Set the Priority and specify a Due date.

6. In the Subject field, describe actions to take.

7. Click Start and close.
