Overview

The configuration of the manufactured product is based on the customer's request and serves as input for the actual manufacturing process. 

After the customer's request data has been captured, the company performs the following configuration steps:

1) Specify components to manufacture.

2) Identify manufacturing tasks to carry out.

In the Make-to-order scenario, the company might not need to create a BOM (bill of materials) or route sheets.

How to specify necessary components

Analyze the information received from the customer and specify the required components.

How to enter product components into the system

1. Go to Master data and settings and then click Items under Master data.

2. Find and open an item with the icon to enter components of the required product.

3. Click the Attributes tab and open the Main accounting parameters section.

4. Under Item variants, click the List hyperlink.

5. Create a new Item variant with the exact set of components required by the customer.

System controls

Note that the system uniqueness control can lock the creation of a sale item variant. In this case, skip the step and continue.

How to maintain BOMs

1. Go to Manufacturing and then click Bills of materials under Master data.

2. Filter the Production and kitting type of the BOM.

3. Find a BOM template that best corresponds to the customer’s request and copy it.

4. Select an Item and its Item variant.

5. Make the changes required for the request-specific technology to the BOM.

6. Link it to the customer's request.

How to maintain product standart costs

1. Go to Manufacturing and then click Product standard costs under Master data.

2. Create a new Product standard cost.

3. Select an Item and its Item variant for the finished products.

4. Link it to the relevant BOM.

5. Make all the necessary changes.

6. Link it to the customer's request.
