Overview

A budgeting model is a set of rules that determine the structure, relationships, and sequence based on which budgets are created within companies and company business units in a given time interval.

Before you start the budget process, specify the budget model. For the budget planning horizon, you can use the last year's model or slightly modify it.

You can store the existing models as separate files and exchange them between different databases. When you import the budgeting model, the system automatically compares the imported file dimensions with the existing receiving database dimensions. If any dimensions are missing, the system automatically adds them to the receiving database. You can also copy the budgeting model within the same database.

The budgeting model includes the following elements:

  • Budgeting model
  • Budgeting profile
  • Budgeting (process) steps
  • Budgeting scenarios

Before you set up the budgeting model, fill in the following system elements:

  • Budgeting flow items
  • Budgeting balance items
  • Non-financial items
  • Budgeting item links
  • Actual data query rules

The financial planning (budgeting) process is configured in accordance with the internal regulations of a particular company and reflects the logical sequence of process actions.

Data security settings and prohibition of editing budget entry forms also depend on how the financial planning process is organized in the company.

As a result of the process, the budgeting model for the next budgeting horizon is set up in the system.
